A Yorkshire-headquartered interiors specialist that relaunched under a new brand last year has reported more than £7m revenue in a nine-month period, after completing a series of high-profile commercial fit-out projects across the UK.
Significant commercial contracts
The company, which has offices in York and Newcastle, generated the turnover between March and December 2025. It is on target to build on this performance during 2026. Recent projects the company has completed include supporting the Leeds office relocation of Europe’s largest architecture and engineering consultancy, Sweco. The company now occupies a 15,000 sq ft space at 1 Whitehall Riverside where approximately 200 members of its team are based.
Ben Johnson Interiors’ work involved designing and creating a modern working environment complete with a striking reception area, workspaces, collaboration areas, superb welfare facilities and social hubs.

Also in Leeds, the firm has transformed the 2,185 sq ft reception area at 2 City West into a functional, welcoming space with a boutique, hotel-inspired feel on behalf of commercial property and asset management company, Davlea Estates. The company is also delivering projects across several other Davlea Estates properties throughout the UK.
In Leicester, the firm has delivered a full fit-out and furniture package in an 18,000 sq ft space within retail giant Next’s headquarters. The previously vacant two-storey concrete shell now offers a modern, high-performance employee hub complete with a new canteen and restaurant, as well as a full commercial kitchen, and a state-of-the-art training centre.
The firm also has a wealth of experience in the healthcare sector and has delivered a new medical facility and doctors’ surgery in the centre of Sheffield, on behalf of One Medical. The contract involved a full category A fit-out, including all new mechanical and electrical services, followed by a category B fit-out with partitioning, flooring, bathrooms, kitchens, specialist medical treatment areas, surgery spaces and furniture.

Expansion beyond the region
Emma Dodsley, director at Ben Johnson Interiors, said: “Ben Johnson has been part of Yorkshire’s business community since 1855. Whilst our roots were in printing, today we’re focused on creating workplaces and specialist environments for organisations across the UK. We also work for numerous well-known large-scale commercial property landlords including Davlea Estates, as well as recently working on projects for Rockstar Games, SpaMedica, Keepmoat Homes, Mott MacDonald and Pro-Pak Foods, creating high-end and bespoke interiors in commercial, office and mixed-use developments nationwide.”
In March 2025, the business relaunched and rebranded to Ben Johnson Interiors, which reflects the company’s current focus on creating environments that support collaboration, wellbeing and productivity. The director noted that the firm is building its presence in London, with current projects for transport company Arriva and L&Q, which is one of the UK’s largest housing associations and residential developers.
Generating more than £7m in revenue during the first nine months exceeded expectations and the team is building on this in 2026. They’ve already enjoyed a strong first half of the year and have secured a healthy pipeline of work. With new projects beginning across England in the landlord, healthcare, education and office sectors, the outlook for the coming year is positive. The company’s growth illustrates a broader trend where regional design firms are expanding their national footprints to capture larger commercial contracts.
